Yoga Teacher Training is more than just learning how to teach yoga. It is a time in your life when you commit yourself along a path. We learn anatomy and asanas (postures), but we also dig deep to figure out who we are and why we connect with this practice. There is a lot of work involved – both physical as well as mental. It is a huge time commitment, and you won’t leave the program the same as when you began. So if you are just considering YTT to improve your handstand, it may not be the right place for you.
Everyone and anyone. We have heard a lot of “but I’m not good enough at yoga to become a teacher” since announcing this program. Being a yoga teacher isn’t about having a kick-ass Crow Pose. It is about wanting to help and inspire people to be their best. It is about wanting to help and inspire YOURSELF to be YOUR best. Yoga teaches us there is no “perfection” and that we are all on our own rollercoaster of a journey. Once you let go of judgement, you realize we are all both teachers and students in our own right. YTT just helps give your experiences a voice and a platform where they can inspire others.
Tuition Cost: $3000 – if you pay in full before May 15, 2017, you get a $300 discount.
Textbook Cost: Up to $200 – a book list will be given to all registered students so books can be purchased prior to the first class. Books can be purchased used or in a downloadable format to decrease the price.

Location: Classes will be split between the Brighton and Fenton Bent Yoga locations. Students are expected to drive between both locations depending on day. A schedule will be handed out on the first day of class outlining which dates will be at which locations.
Class meeting times:
Each session will include at least one hour of yoga practice, some lecture and discussion, possibly some meditation and practice teaching. For the longer days there will be a lunch break. Students are expected to bring or purchase their own lunch.
Yes. We will have outside books to read on your own time, homework to complete, journals and blogging, volunteer requirements, teaching expectations, additional required yoga classes, etc. Plan on living and breathing yoga for these 3 months. All books and required materials are purchased at the expense of the student.
We are encouraging students from both Brighton AND Fenton (as well as surrounding areas) to register. Depending on the location of the students we will decide the location of the classes. Most likely we will move between the Brighton and Fenton Bent Locations on a per-week basis.
Yoga Teacher Training is the first step in becoming a yoga teacher, but it is not the only step. Experience is a huge part of becoming a teacher as well. Once teacher training is finished we will offer Feedbacks for those interested. Feedbacks are when a YTT student teaches the teachers. Each style of class has its own Feedback process and students must “pass” the style in order to be considered for Bent. Feedbacks can take a few weeks to a few years depending on your motivation and schedule. Bent is very selective in our teachers and the Feedback process allows us to ensure all of our teachers are giving out the same high quality class students at Bent are used to receiving. Feedbacks are NOT required to get your RYT and teach at places other than Bent.
Teaching at Bent also takes into consideration the available class times and styles on the schedule. Therefore, we cannot promise all of our graduates will be offered positions at Bent, even if all feedbacks are completed.
To become an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) through the Yoga Alliance, you must complete the full 200 required classroom hours. Unfortunately due to the teachers’ schedules, makeup sessions will not be available. If you know you will be missing some classes, please let us know as early as possible so we can help you decide if this training is right for you.
If multiple classes are missed, we reserve the right to reevaluate your eligibility for our program (refunds are not available after July 1, 2017). The students you travel through yoga teacher training with become your tribe, and you, theirs. It isn’t fair to not have the full attention and support of your tribe during your learning process. Many of our activities involve partner or group participation and having absences detracts from the learning experiences. Therefore, please discuss any planned absences with us prior to registering so we can determine the best course of action.
Unfortunately we cannot offer the training on a module by module basis. As with most things in yoga, we need the flexibility to adjust what topics are covered in a single session and the length of time we spend on any one topic as we see fit.
However, we DO offer our full yoga teacher training program at a deeply discounted price to those already holding their RYT200 certifications. If you want to learn more about our unique style of classes and teaching, we would LOVE to have you join us this fall!
PRICE FOR EXISTING YOGA TEACHERS: $1500
